well the 7990 is a hair strong than both those cards. i would consider sli or xfire for a better option if you want to get near 144 fps.

1080p of course
i dont know any monitors over 1080 that will do 144hz unless you got a good overclocker

7990 isn't a single GPU though. I would get 2 780s. Or a pair of 4gb 770s. AMD has been shoddy with their drivers for crossfire.

Im using 1080p but the 7990 would just crash if i attempted to gam with that refresh rate lol which alot of people had this issue. as for crossfire or sli im not going for that anymore theres just too many problems with them so 1 gpu is my only way now. But on that note i didnt know 2x770's were better than 780ti.

A pair of 770s are about equal to a 780 Ti. I would prefer a 780 or 780Ti, as the 290x gets quite hot unless you get a good aftermarket cooler on it, and they are overly expensive right now.

Ehh, I would still get a 780 Ti over that, unless you have your heart set on watercooling. That card will overclock well and stay really cool, but you'll need a whole watercooling system, and those aren't cheap lol
yeah good point expensive watercooling it's such a difficult choice especially when these cards are half a grand a piece, it's a good job i managed to get £650 for my 7990 on ebay, so the definate choice is gonna be a 780 ti im like this:EVGA GTX780Ti 3GB SuperClocked & ACX Cooling unless you would suggest a different one.
