I am currently running an i5-4570 with an ASUS Z-87 A. I am thinking of upgrading the processor to a i7-45770K. Is anyone using the same combination? Are there any problems I should address before upgrading? I hope I didn't make a mistake by not starting with a better ASUS motherboard.

You won't probably notice real world difference between the i5 and i7, only in synthetic benchmarks. The i7 only have Hyper Threading. Your motherboard is good enough and don't worry it too much. I would rather use that money on a SSD or a video card.

Thanks. I am familiar with the i7 processors, I still have one machine running one. It's the first generation i7....great chip, but it's time to upgrade.
I was concerned with the ASUS motherboard. I have used nothing but ASUS. But I always went with the higher ended ASUS boards. This time I didn't when I went with the i5 and now that I want to go back to the unlocked i7 I just wanted to be sure that the Z87-A will be sturdy enough for overclocking. I should have figured the motherboard will be fine - after all it is an ASUS. And more in the middle price wise, so it should be alright. If you could would you let me know your build? Thanks again.
