Hi, i recently bought a garage nearby my house and i was planning to make my office there. All the stuff was going great, until i remembered that i would have to have an internet connection. There is no way to get wired internet there, so i was planning to make a long range wifi connection. The point is that i don't know if it is a good idea because i have a building between my house and the garage. Would you guys give me some advice for what i should buy or do in order to have a proper internet connection?
You can see here bellow an image from google earth with my house and the garage.
thank you guys

Solution
I suspect you may not be able to fix this because of home owner association or whatever rules but

First the solution is outdoor wireless bridge units. Something like ubiquiti airgrid or similar units from engenius. The engenius are physically smaller which in this case may be a advantage they are still well within the distance limits.

Problem is to get this to work you need clear line of site between the units. In this case it appears the garage is blocked by another very tall building. So you either put up a tall pole which will let your antenna see over the building or you see if you can get permission to mount it on the very end of the row of garages. This point appears to be just past the end of the tall building and should...

Your only other option would be to put a the bridge on the house side only and hope the power is strong enough to get though the other block of houses.....no way to even predict stuff like that.

The bridges are fairly inexpensive about $75 each for the airgird ones. Engenius are similar in pricing.

i am screwed than...and if i had the chance to put the bridge unit on the building between my house and the garage, what would you choose? a unidirectional or a omnidirectional bridge? thank you for all the atention!

You would always want directional equipment. No sense sending the power to areas that don't need it and it reduces the interference since the direction equipment does a good job of blocking wireless signal coming from direction other than the main site you want to talk to.

Mostly you would use omnidirectional if you have multiple remote location in different directions. Rather than setup multiple directional antenna you use omni.
