Hi

I just built a PC, and it works fine except the powersupply makes a really loud buzzing sound. It's easily the loudest thing in the case and I can hear it from several metres away... It also clicks and the buzzing changes when the CPU or GPU is under load. There is also a faint buzzing sound from it when the PC is off but plugged in...

Also I notice weird artifacts in Warframe that look like black squares, which you can see in this pic:

They appear on the walls randomly and flicker when you look around. The GPU is not overheating...

My spec is

i5 4440 3.1 GHz
MSI H87I
Sapphire Radeon R9 270X Dual-X
Silverstone Strider 450W SFX powersupply

Should I get the Power-supply replaced because of the noise, and could a problematic power supply cause these weird glitches in games? Or is my GPU bad?

Thanks

That power supply is not sufficient enough to run what is in your PC. You need to upgrade it to something more powerful, I would say a bear minimum of 550 W 80 + Bronze. The artifacting may be due to a limited amount of power going to the graphics card, but its probably just the game. If it bugs you and your computer starts having issues, then you may have a GPU problem, the R9 series cards are quite often DOA.

Your power supply is causing the artifacting. a 500 Watt Power Supply is required to run the Video card the right way.

You need to get atleast a 500 watt psu but I would invest into a 600w psu.

Also I would also not run the card with that psu much longer or your going to damage it also.

Which region are you in so I can recommend you a good PSU.

Your psu is enough for that setup. You are only about 250w on full load. That buzzing sound is called coil whine. Coil whine is doesn't have any effect on your pc it is just annoying. You basically have a semi-defective psu and GPU.

Could be the game, most likely crappy AMD drivers since R9 series is newer.
My rig is finally stable since the latest catalyst drivers,i've had issues since June with my 7950 on a Haswell mobo.
Your psu is good quality the only problem is it's not really built for a gaming rig.
An 80mm psu fan and three small heatsinks in the psu aren't helping you out.
I'd be inclined to rma or replace the psu

UK..

So should I get a replacement Power Supply? My case is the Silverstone SG05 and only takes SFX form factor power supplies, though.

Thanks

Your limited to the PSU you have. Since there are not other PSUs that will work, since of the form factor.

Only other option to get a different case or use a psu outside of the case.
