i currently have a duel-core e5200 2.5GHz CPU, it runs good but i need more power for editing videos and rendering them. i need a CPU under $60. Any ideas?
Which motherboard do you currently, your options are really limited to Pentiums and Celeron processors. I can give you specific recommendation if you would be able to tell me your motherboard socket type.
Actually considering his current chip is an old socket 775 core to duo and he is looking for rendering he may be able to find a secondary market core 2 quad, it does depend alot on his motherboard though. You can find find a faster clock speed with a quad core for about $75 there http://tinyurl.com/ludsfzf
Go here to see the CPU support list for your motherboard. You should upgrade to the latest motherboard BIOS before upgrading the CPU for the best compatibility.
It's the same clock speed as your current processor. You won't notice a difference in everyday use, but it will be about twice as fast in well threaded applications that can fully utilize the extra two cores.
