My new computer is booting up but not displaying a screen

Hi, i have just built my first computer, and it powers up perfectly, the LED fans start and everything boots up the only problem is there is no input on the screen. When i select the input it says there is a device using it but the screen shows nothing, any ideas?

Specs are:
Intel i5 4670k
MSI Z87 6d65 gaming motherboard
ASUS Nvidia geforce gtx 760

Could the problem be that i am trying to use a HDMI for the first time and isn't properly installed, so i should be using a VGA instead

if you can't load drivers off of using you graphics card, try using the motherboard vga, and install all your stuff from there, first take the graphics card out, then plug into motherboard and install drivers tho, try a few windows updates to, also look for Motherboard Bios updates etc, try to get all your drivers up to date, plug in your graphics card and see if that works

I cant get onto windows it is my first time trying to to boot it up to install windows so hopefully the DVI cable will work and i can install some drivers
