So I'm looking for a best as possible PSU that I can get in Australia for under $200.

The case will probably be a H440 from NZXT instead of the corsair 750D due to its huge reviews, but I need to choose a good power supply. I was thinking 700W-800W for future proofing and I am looking for efficiency too, preferably around 80 PLUS Gold. Being fully modular is also a great bonus.

I was looking at the NZXT HALE90 v2 PSU, but that has gone out of stock in the only retailer in Australia, and ordering it in from the NZXT Armoury would cost an extra $15-$20 in shipping.

Please help me! :)

Hi again - nothing wrong with 850's, just not needed unless you're going to SLI, & you'd probably want more to SLI 2 780ti's.

Sure, there are top of line 750's, but they may be over au $200.
The Seasonic X-750 & SS-760 XP2 didn't show up on parpicker, but along with the AX 760
would also be top of the line units.

Hi - I suggest you do not consider the Corsair RM-750. It failed Hardocp's lab review. Corsair has since modified it, but not
all the issues were resolved. Of particular concern is the use of budget level caps in the secondary filtering, yet it's marketed
and priced as an enthusiast level PSU.

Ahh thanks toy, I remember reading somewhere that one of the corsair PSU lines were not recommended, but I forgot which one. Thanks for that info.

Also 850W is kind of more than I actually need, closer to 700W the better as more money could be used for better efficiency

I agree you don't need an 850w unit for a sys with 1 gtx 780ti, a good 620w or greater will be more than enough.
However, the total wattage doesn't affect efficiency. Efficiency is how much AC the PSU pulls from the wall, realtive to what the components need. For example: If your components need 300w and the PSU is 75% efficient, then it
will pull 400w from the wall, an 85% efficient PSU will pull 353w from the wall to deliver the same 300w to your components.

Here are some PSU's to consider:

http://au.pcpartpicker.com/mr/cplonline/antec-power-supply-tp650c - Haswell compatible - gold efficiency

http://au.pcpartpicker.com/mr/mwaveau/seasonic-power-supply-ssr650rm - Also Haswell - gold - semi modular

http://au.pcpartpicker.com/mr/pccasegear/silverstone-power-supply-st75fp - 750w - silver - modular

http://au.pcpartpicker.com/mr/cplonline/antec-power-supply-hcg750m - Haswell - semi mod - bronze

LOL - back to 850's. It is a good unit. Hardware Secrets reviewed the earlier version (not the v2) a little
better than the v2. The OEM (Superflower)in the earlier model tends to stay with above average units regardless of who they mfg for. The OEM (FSP) of the v2 version has the tech capabilities to mfg any quality level a brand contracts for, but they are more known for producing average quality PSU's.

But, still a solid unit. Not much to differentiate once you are dealing with all
good quality units. If I were going with the 850, I'd stick with the Antec hcg850m in your
original post if it were available.

Okay so I guess I should stay away from the 850s, but shouldn't there be a 'best in range' PSU for say 700-750W? Surely they can't all be great? As in best quality and features for this price range

You stated that you'd need more than 850W for 2 780tis, so would 650W be enough for just one?

You were talking about the Seasonic X-750, what about the Seasonic X-650?

Hi again - yes and yes - was talkin about the Seasonics, and a good quality 650w PSU is more than enough to run any current generation single GPU.
