Can a desktop PC be wired with the HD connector on the outside so you can switch out two HD, both loaded with the same Windows 8 (same IP number). Use one HD for surfing the other for heavy gaming and photo work.

Theoretically, yes. But you'd still have to reboot. And in which case, just select the right drive when you reboot.

And 2 instances of the same Windows license will probably cause issues.
