Monitor goes white on start up or when I open some games

When I start my pc on startup it goes white for some seconds and when i run some games like GTA or HALO it goes white until i pres alt+F4 how can i fix this.. please tell fast

Do you have more than one video connection going from the PC to the monitor? If you do, unhook all but one. I've seen a similar issue from someone that for some reason hooked up all the inputs on one monitor to the computer, which basically made the system try to use the monitor both a primary and a secondary display depending on which input was active.
