My build completely died in 2011 and i have been without a DT since then.

Im eager to build now, and i am aware of X99/DDR4 launching Q3/Q4 and ive decided im not willing to pay that premium, or wait the extra ~1year for the prices to drop although i am concerned my LGA 2011 choice, with a ROG mobo could lead me down a non-supported BIOs/Tech alley similar to DFI...

I do a bit of professional work, which is my intention with this new build and im sure along the way ill reanimate my gaming passion (ive got 2x770's, of course ill do some gaming!). But i have solidly chosen the 4930k over the 4770k.

This was my foundation which is why i want to make the right decision (mobo wise).
4930k with the rampage IV gene (the micro ATX version)
2-way SLI with GTX 770's (procured through a friend)
2x240G M500's SSD
Carbide 500R white case (no idea on additional fans/cooling yet)
16 or 32 G of some memory? havent figured out what works best in this mobo.

1) I would prefer the 32G memory, unless its actually slowing the system down. Will the 4x8 kits at 1866 be fine.
2) I was looking at the Asus deluxe X79, and the sabertooth but the benchmarks ive located actually showed the gene performing better. Any comments or other suggestions here?
3) Since im building basically a year old system already, is it obvious this system has issues? I have seen some nightmare threads about the Gene.
4) I was trying to not spend more than 2k for the system so was one reason for the gene since i wanted 2-way SLI (2k not counting my 770's)
5) i expect this system to last me 5-6 years maybe not playing the highest resolutions but overall being a solid build

I am considering getting a diff mobo that allows 64G memory and more PCI-e Slots.

Im also looking at doing an auto-OC and possibly doing a simple water loop with the CPU but its unlikely ill water cool the GPUs...

1. U never need more than 16g of ram unless you are a god. But in ur case 4x8 g.skill sniper/ripjaw/tridents will do the job
2. Asus makes the best board. and Sabertooths is like mid-high range with excellent build quality. You cant go wrong. Also gaming performance between good and bad mobos is like 1-3%... The real question is how well are they build and how long will they last and how well they overclock. Notice Good overclockers are usually high quality boards.
3. No, Ivy is pretty much stable
4.Dont think its a question.
5. Yeah it will last pretty long. Although computer parts can be hit or miss, depends on luck. Although components tend to last longer if you dont OC and provide them with clean power. So go get a nice gold/plat psu from seasonic/corsair/antec if u want 5-6 years.
Also tell me if im wrong, but i remember the sabertooth come with 5 year warranty?
Advice: I dont think anything needs 32g of ram?
