Hello,

I've been puzzled by my own new build computer,
I bought the peripherals less than 1 month ago
here are the specs :

0. Windows 8 64bit Pro Fresh Installed and Activated
1. Mobo : Gigabyte GA-H87M-D3H (LGA 1150)
2. Proc. : Intel Core i5 4670K
3. RAM : Corsair Vengeance 8GB dual channel kit CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9
4. HDD : WD Blue 1 TB x 2 (one partition per each hard drive)
5. PSU : Enermax NanX 550Watt
6. CPU Cooler : Xigmatek Nepartak
7. GPU onboard Intel HD 4600 with 1024MB shared memory
8. Wifi Adapter : PCIe x1 TP-Link TLWN781ND
9. Sound Card : Creative Audigy 2 (launched 2002)
10. UPS : Prolink 600VA with Auto Voltage Regulator

And these are my problems :

1. day one till ten days later, after fresh install it had so many BSODs occured, I found that because of the incompatible drivers, I had downloaded the newest drivers from manufacturer and BSODs were gone

2. since two days ago, I have no BSODs anymore, but the one thing that bugs me is unexpected shutdown event ID 6008
a. I tested RAM with memtest86+ 5.0.1 and after passed 7 test no error found
b. hottest CPU's temp was 64 degree with stress test from Intel extreme Utility
c. I've tried to uninstall any additional hardware and also usb devices (except keyboard and mice)
d. reinstall the OS didn't solve my problem too.
e. I've reset the BIOS settings to defalt one and the problem still occur

The suspect (even I'm not sure about this) are bad PSU because it was repaired by non official serviceman and surge electricity because unstable electricity in my house.

my question : should I buy the new PSU or add a voltage stabilizer upper the UPS

Thank you in advance

edited :

My computer freeze randomly and if I play video, the video still playing while everythings are frozen, a moment later the video freeze for about 20-30 second and my computer shutdown.

yup, no bsod anymore and I already did clean install windows 8 last night.

more information
My computer freeze randomly and if I play video, the video still playing while everythings are frozen, a moment later the video freeze for about 20-30 second and my computer shutdown.
when this was happened before I install Intel Rapid Storage Tech. my log said "...... drive retried", and after I installed the IRST, crash still occuring with event ID 6008 without error of drives

I'll try to change my PSU this weekend,
may I ask your out of topic question?

I want to buy Super Flower Golden Green 600 PSU, on its website it says that all of PSUs are Intel Haswell compatible and have 5 years warranty,
How reliable the Super Flower is? here is the PSU which I want to buy

http://superflower.b1024.hkn.net/index.php?id=85

PSU is #1, videocard would be #2 to check

Almost all new powersupplies will be compatible, they all use more or less the same standard.

I can't see a lot of reviews and I am not very familiar with that brand, Super Flower. The warranty is good. I recommend going with a more familiar brand though.

Video card is OK I think since I upgrade to the newest driver and the GPU is processed by CPU itself since my GPU is onboard.
for the problem, finally I'm using my friend's RAM right now to get trial and error result, because he said, he once experienced with this kind of error and the culprit was the RAM.

if that so, maybe the PSU is OK, if it's not I would try to change the PSU.

May have just been a brown-out that caused it

What is a brown-out?

A brown-out is a sag in the flow of electricity coming to the target device. A black out is total power out - everything goes black. A brown-out is a sag in power. A weakened transmission. It is what you experience when you see the lights dim during high stress of power usage, such as during a heat wave and many are using air conditioners, a huge pull on the power supply. A brown-out will weaken the electronic components of an electrical device, such as a power supply unit or an electronic card. See this article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brownout_(electricity)

Back from the dead; a year later... :??:

Hello. What exactly happened? Same thing? I perceive you bought a UPS unit for brown outs. I'd like to add a little more to itsmgwine information about brown outs and why it's so important to have a UPS unit. All home/office voltage will at some time sag, dropping from the normal 120v110v range to under 80v. When that happens, electric current may become too weak to make clean contact to contact points on the circuit boards or with components. In order to complete the contact, electricity has to jump the connections causing it to burn at those contact points. The burned points conduct no electricity and get wider as the frequency of the brown outs (voltage drops) continues. When it gets too wide, it can't jump or the burn spot at the circuit or contact point and becomes coated with carbon deposits. Thus, the component or computer dies. It's pretty common cause of failure in all electrical appliances.
Take for instance, the old radio you use to hit to make work, has to do with a dirty contact point or a break in the circuit somewhere. Volume knobs on raidos are notorious for carbon build up or dirt, and corrosion. (Crappy, scratchy sound, twisting the knob can clean it, Lol). Each time you hit it or twist it, it cleans the dirty connection off at the break and connects again. With connection breaks continuous turning off and on, the electric currents arch and burns at the weak connections. Hit the radio again, it cleans it, the radio works till it gets too wide to connect, starts to flicker on and off, then ceases to work. Kaput.
In a computer mobo or component, the IT circuits, in the thousands of micro connections, a burn may be impossible to find. A chip would look perfectly normal on the outside but inside could be toasted. It's cheaper to discard the board or component and buy a new one.
Brown outs are quite the opposite of an electrical spike but just as bad. A UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply unit) will prevent both occurrences from happening. A good UPS will keep constant voltage and give instant corrections to the incoming current. Hope this information helps.
Also, Super Flower is a very good psu brand. Another good brand and who subcontracts a number of psu units to other manufacturers is Seasonic. They make psu units for XFX, some Corsair models, etc,. Tom's Hardware has a psu tier listing for the best. Check it out.

Running Afterburner with the new Crimson software my computer video went black, but the taskbar was still there. I was playing Call of Duty, Ghost on line. I managed to turn off my computer safely and restart it, dropped my overclock settings and it was fine. The following night I jumped into a BF3 multiplayer game and had a complete blackout except for power to the hardware. Restarted it and turned the overclocking settings down. 2 more blackouts. I recieved an Error ID 6008 in my event logs. I began to suspect hardware but decided to first uninstall Afterburner and download a lesser OC program, Sapphire TRIXX. I set it up and put in my overclocking settings. No crashes for a week. Not that it's failsafe, I notice my R9 390 temps went down from 70/72c idle to 56/59c idle at reduced fan speed 55% to 35/40%. Not bad.
Maybe it was Afterburner. I've used Afterburner before without problems, my all time favorite but was informed sometimes Afterburner doesn't work well with Crimson. Anyone else have problems using Afterburner with Crimson? Well, I'm checking for PSU and hardware problems to see if my computer's O.K. Just happen to think of this thread.
Will post again if the black out 6008 IDs return.
