I downloaded Ubuntu 13.10 a month or two ago and while I like it I want to switch back to windows 7 because it has a larger gaming library. My question is will I run into any problems if I use the reinstallation disk? I don't have an actual Windows 7 disk. The disk says "the software is alredy installed on your computer, use this DVD only to reinstall the operating system on a Dell PC." Will the disk not work since I have Ubuntu installed and not windows 7?

You could install virtual box in Ubuntu to test. In any rate you'll need the product key. A reinstall gets the key from the existing system so that may be a problem for you but Dell might help you out.

@Random, this disk probably will work - it will restore your computer to "original" state. It will delete (most probably) your Ubuntu installation.

@Stillblue - there "restore DVDs" check what hardware they run on, and most probably will refuse to work from inside a VM.

Learn something new everyday. Querry? How can a restore dvd restore if you've reformatted the drive? I was always under the impression that it used the existing key in the system to re-install. Or does it re-install and require you to re-register and MS checks your system against the original install registration? I know it does the with an oem reinstall.

Here's how it works.
