My question is can a EVGA GeForce GT 620 work on my 250 watt psu in my HP Pavilion a6417c?
Here is what was on the side of my 250 watt psu.

Bestec
Model: ATX-250-12Z
INPUT: 100-127V~6A, 200-240V~3A 50/60Hz
BST ATX 250-12Z D7R

OUTPUT 250 W MAX

+5V & +3.3V 165W MAX. +5V % +12V 218 MAX.

Here is the link to the gpu I want to buy:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/EVGA-02G-P3-2629-RX-GeForce-GT-620-2GB-64-bit-DDR3-PCI-Express-2-0-x16-HDCP-Read-/291057188604?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item43c45c3efc

I also want to know if PCI-Express 2.0 is backwards compatible with PCI-Express 1.0 b/c my motherboard only has a PCI-Express x16 1st Gen slot. Please reply quick as I am planning to buy a EVGA GeForce GT 620. I also want to you guys to calculate all of my specs and see what the total wattage is. Here are my specs if you are too lazy to just click the link above:

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 x2 4800+
(Soon)GPU: EVGA GeForce GT 620
RAM: 2x2 ddr2 800 Non-Ecc
HDD: 500 GB
PSU: 250 watt (Obviously)

Very likely as it's a low-end graphics card, and with being more power efficient may not add much power if any over the onboard graphics.

I wouldn't expect to be able to suddenly play any good games well though.

It's pointless to get a 2GB video card, and if you have 32-bit Windows you'll lose some of your 4GB of System RAM as 32-bit Windows can only address 4GB in TOTAL which includes System and Video. Get a 1GB card.

So I should get a 1gb gt 620?

Update:
You may not care, but the following totals $115 + tax/shipping and will give a big boost to your system:

1. Power Supply:
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/antec-power-supply-vp450

2. HD7750 graphics card:
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-video-card-hd77501gd5v2

Regardless of which graphics card you get make sure to install the proper DRIVERS. I recommend this method:

1. Remove drivers (currently NVidia) from add/remove
2. Boot into the BIOS and make sure PCIe comes first (not onboard graphics), then SAVE
3. Install the graphics card and boot to Windows
4. Download and install the proper drivers
(direct from AMD or NVIDIA. Must match your exact card and Windows version. Can use the AUTO-DETECT software.)

Just to tell you I already have a gaming system armed with a GTX 660 GPU, i7-3770 CPU with 16 GB's @ 1600 MHz. All I want to do is do a little upgrade on my spare computer so when my friends come I can LAN party with games like minecraft or killing floor.
