I use Comodo antivirus, it's great in my opinion. Shouldn't cause too much of a slow down.

I'm not sure which is lighter, but MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials) is very light and ad-free. And very effective!

I am using Bitdefender Free. It is good and free and very light, more than the Microsoft Security Essentails.
