Adding an SSD and having Issues

Hey everyone,

OK first of all I have this motherboard: Asus P6X58DE

When I started, I had 2 1TB HDD drives hooked into the 2 6gbSATA ports and a DVD drive hooked into one of the 4 3gbSATA ports (this is how the computer was shipped to me and it has run for years).

I just added a Samsung 840EVO 250GB SSD. At first I tried moving one of the HDD's off the 6gbSATA ports and onto a 3gbSATA port and plugging this new SSD in its place to take advantage of the full speed... But BIOS wouldn't recognize the drive. I tried various other combinations and either it wouldn't boot because it was no longer recognizing my main HDD or it would boot and would not recognize the SSD.

Finally I put everything back exactly how it was and hooked the SSD into the SATA 3 or 4 port (assuming between the two that the top one is #3 than it's SATA 3) even though it's a 3gb port.

I booted up to Windows 7 even though BIOS didn't see the SSD drive, and as soon as I got to Windows, it automatically installed drivers for the drive and it was available to be partitioned and formatted. So I partitioned it, cloned my C: to it and tried to reboot. As I rebooted I used the Quick Boot Order menu (F8) and was able to choose the SSD drive (even though it still doesn't actually show up in BIOS) but within seconds of selecting it it says "No MBR found, press CTRL-ALT-DEL to Reboot." So I rebooted and let it just boot off the regular C: and it booted just fine, and the SSD is my G: and is totally accessible and has everything cloned exactly from my C:... But it will not boot from it and BIOS doesn't see it...

SO... any idea what I'm missing here?

Any help would be much appreciated.

OK so I started over with the included Samsung Disc Migration software instead of one that was recommended to me to use instead and it worked. I have a new question though but I'll make a separate post...
