Gigabyte R9 290X Windforce 3X OC vs Gigabyte GTX 780Ti

Alright all, Thinking of going single GPU for my Second build but struggling to come up with the right outcome. Title says it all and price factor isn't relevant as the Gigabyte R9 290X Windforce 3x OC is $775 in Australia and the Gigabyte GTX 780Ti is $779 over here. I want to be using this card for 3D work and playing games like crysis 3 on ultra without any problems. My other PC has a 7990 and it's great and maxes out everything, Just this is too close for me to decide. I am a AMD Fanboy and hoping that the AMD card is better but I just wanted to know what is actually better overall?

Solution
if a 290x is a couple hundred cheaper it is probably not worth it as long as the 290x is a good after market cooler. You lose bang for the buck when you are looking at the highest end cards. The 780ti is the fastest, the 290x is the best bang for buck in comparison.

The Gigabyte 780Ti is more than that! It's $929 at PCCG at the moment!

Well it's alright, I love the R9 290X and I'm playing BF4 at Ultra settings at 1080p with an average of 95fps! I couldn't be happier. Windforce for the R9 290X but the Windforce GTX 780Ti just isn't worth it for me.

We can see nice gain in fps with mantle even at current beta stage drivers. Star Swarm demo is also showing us, bad optimisation Battlefield4 engine for Mantle - I got 100% better results in Star Swarm on R9 290 with mantle than with DX. Future games will get much more fps and/or visual effects with Mantle. In my opinion all current NVidia graphics cards are now outdated, even having some more fps in some games for now.
