I use yahoo for my start page on IE 11. I have My yahoo populated and recently when I click on a portfolio company I get a message that Ad.wsod has stoped the opening of various company profiles on Yahoo finance. I learned that WSOD (Wall Street on Demand) is a tracking cookie.
I cannot find any info on the searching the internet. Using tools does not fix. I am using Win 7

Thank you. I do use CCleaner and other utilities but they do not seem to remove Ad.wsod. Sometimes I get temporary relief but it has come back. I can not able to find it in my user file or know how to block it from coming back There is very little info on the net. Ad.wsod.com pops up on my url screen and interupts the requested view on IE 11 and Yahoo.

Try running an off-line scanner like the AVG Rescue CD (see below). Also, are you using Malwarebytes? If so, does it identify and attempt to remove?

http://www.malwarebytes.org/mwb-download/

With the Rescue CD. Download the ISO and burn to CD. Then boot from the CD. Update the app when asked and perform a full scan of your system (it will take a while). Delete all identified. Upon completion restart your system and check for the offending malware.

Thanks again for you help. I have tried malwarebytes and found PUP.optional and removed it. I have not tried AVG. I think the problem is with IE and not Yahoo. If I access Yahoo through Firefox, I do not have the same redirection problem.

If I use Slim Cleaner it removes cookies and I can use Yahoo on IE for a short time. While in Yahoo when it is working and you click on a stock summary page, the address bar would show HTTP:// finance.yahoo.com/q?s=( the stock symbol). When WSOD takes over the address bar is HTTP://ad.WSOD.com/embed/folled by many symbols. Again WSOD stands for Wall Street On Demand. Doing a google search I can only confirm that it is a tracking cookie but no help to try remove
