Ok here it is, me and my friend had an argument about RAM. He said that RAM is also considered internal memory and I kind of disagree with him. I am saying that RAM maybe primary memory or live memory but it should not be referred to as internal memory of any device. I say this because you could see in your smartphones that internal memory is referred to as inbuilt memory, the memory storage where you can save apps whereas RAM could never store any files could it?(well not permanently.) Now I do know many websites and some of school books may also refer to RAM as internal memory but do you really think it should be called internal memory in a technical term. If you do think that then why is it not the same for smartphones, Does the definition of internal memory change from device to device?

Solution
The marketing departments of smartphones don't want to advertise that phones have 1 or 2 GB of memory. Since phones use flash memory for storage, they decided instead to call their storage memory rather than trying to be simple and calling it storage space or flash memory. RAM is internal memory on a PC, it's also internal memory on a smart phone.

A flash drive could be called internal memory and technically be correct in both devices as well, since it's inside and memory. However a better way to describe it would be memory storage or flash storage or flash memory just to avoid confusion with system RAM.

well technile it is usaly reffered to as one of two ways technicly, fast acess memory as it is used for quick acess as opposed to a ssd or it is reffered to as primary storage/memory as it is where ACTIVE programs sit

well, its actually called volatile memory. as everything running on it is gone after shut down. it can also be called primary memory.

i am not use what internal memory is but that sounds like it could be referring to HDD.
