Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me? I managed to buy this old ASUS G71V laptop at very attractive price for gaming purpose and I love the 17" screen. 1/10th of the original price. It is working fine without any problem. I am thinking of upgrading the existing HD to SSD. I have checked the manual and the spec. Nothing is mentioned about the max. supported HD size. Nor any info on SSD. I guess SSD was not widely available at the time, or rather, not as cheap as they are now. Many thanks in advance for your time. Many thanks.

SSD's are the same physical size as HDD's. You should be able to fit any drive.

Unless you're talking about capacity, in which case, I don't believe there is a limit. I know that laptop shipped with a 1TB drive, so you could always put one in. I wouldn't recommend that though, it'd be prohibitively expensive.

I've heard a lot of good things about the Samsung EVO line. It's what I'm getting for my new laptop. Hardware.Info did an endurance test on one, and found it give out after ~75 years worth of average user (average being 10GB/day writes.)
