So, as the title says, I downgraded from windows 8.1 preview since it had run out a few days ago making my PC turn off every 2 hours. I have everything now up and running in windows 7 but my internet speed got literally cut in half. My regular speeds with windows 8.1 was about 60-65mbps now with Windows 7 I get ALWAYS around 28.50 mbps for some reason, this seems like it is capped at that speed. I have tried a few solutions I've found searching through the internet but nothing has hit the problem yet. I should also mention that I did a clean install of windows 7 and installed all the drivers from my PC's manufacturer and every time I safe boot my pc the Lan driver doesn't seem to boot and I cannot connect to the internet.

Please help.

You can attempt it but I wouldn't pin point that as your problem.

Like I said, Calling your ISP tech support would be your best option before you start deleting registry keys.

They would most likely figure out your problem and attempt to fix it.

Dont feel dumb.. That's why there's forums like this to help :p

We're you testing your speed with a flash based test like www.speedtest.com? Because those are inaccurate.

I would use Testmy.net as it tests multiple servers and will compare you to others with the same ISP

I did test it with speedtest.net but since I did a clean install I am redownloading all of my games and I see a big difference in the speeds. I regularly have about 6-7mbps download with steam and I've been getting about 3-3.5mbps

I have no real solution for you but I would call your ISP to see if they could do anything about it.

It doesn't seem like it there would be anything throttling your speeds considering the re install,

But the best thing you could do is call them and get in contact with Tech Support

I guess you're right, I haven't working much with registry keys and I could end up making a mess. I'll call them and see what they can do.
