Transfer data from old computer hard drive to new computer

My kids smashed my computer screen. I have the hard drive removed and need to transfer the data to a new computer with windows 8. No online instructions seem to work.

A USB cable or dock does this easily. Boot the PC, plug in the old drive, transfer as needed.

If the new computer is a desktop model, you could easily install the old harddrive into it.
