LCD laptop screen way too bright.

Have replaced screen on laptop (Dell XPS M170) to fix graphic problems. But now the screen is way too bright. All the colors are washed out. New LCD is LP171WU1 (TL) (A2). Old screen was same model but had the letters (A4) (K2). Would replacing the inverter help or have I just wasted a bunch of money (non refundable) and should I just throw the laptop out.

Have tried the brightness setting in the BIOS seems to get brighter either up and/or down (left in middle). Tried NVidia control panel has brightness and contrast adjustments but they do not seem to have any effect. The lights around the edge of the LCD seem to be excessively bright.

Hi I replaced the LCD and I know the video cable is in properly but it is possible that I misconnected the inverter. I will try switching the leads and see if that works. I will let you know if that works, thank you
