I found and old complete what looks to be an old gaming system missing a cpu and a hard drive. Its got a case that looks kinda cool with a big poly window on one side and the thing is very clean like it was never used. I looked around and found in my old pc parts and found a AMD Athlon XP 2600+ and a 80GB serial HD, so should I keep this thing in tacked and bring back to life? My other thought was to gut the case and put a new up to date motherboard like a 990FX Extreme and FX-cpu, just cause I like the way the old box looks. I kinda thought it would be cool to keep in tacked too and load it up with old games suited to it.

Nice. I'm a bit of a collector of old PCs myself. If it were mine, I'd probably "restore" it to original condition first, if it isn't already. Use it like that for a bit. Then see how much I could upgrade it to with a faster period CPU (if available somewhere) and memory and a new gfx card. See just what it could do with today's games. Here is a CPU support list if you haven't already found it: http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/list.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=A7S333&p=1
That Athlon XP 2600+ processor is circa 2002, I believe. How does it look inside other than messy cable management?

Then eventually, you'll probably tire of it and want to make a modern gamer from the case.

From the picture it looks very clean and shinny inside, not dusty at all. He is asking a little more then I would like to spend for a new project and I have 2 on my table now. I am going to check on it in a few days and then try to low ball a bit.
