I have ordered a refurbished dell XPS 8700 with i7 4770, 8 gb 1600 ram, windows 8 and need to upgrade the gpu as it is a gt 635 and I am guessing that won't cut it.

I am looking at gtx 660, gtx 660ti or a gtx 760 which will probably also require a psu upgrade from the stock 460watt stock one.

Any input? Is the gtx 760 going to be that much better then the gt 660 that it is worth the extra $130 or so if you figure in the new psu? Or am I just throwing good money away as the gtx 660 will be enough? Cash is at a premium.

When including the cost of a new PSU, I would have to say that the 760 is not worth it. It does perform slightly better in certain instances but not in a way that's worth buying a new PSU also.

Just a little food for thought about Dell stock PSUs. They are not the best quality (cheaping out on the PSU is how a lot of pre-built system manufacturers save on costs) and it may already be "wearing out/ dying". So you may end up having to replace it within the next year or two anyways (maybe not though, sometimes they'll run "forever")
