I have and AMD FX 8350 and whenever I am doing something extremely cpu intensive where it will sit at 100% usage in task manager for more than 30 seconds to a minute my computer will just shut down without any warning. I have done a little testing and this happens with multiple programs that all cause 100% cpu usage.

It sounds like typical symptoms of a too small, failing, or too cheap PSU.

Yes, temps could be a problem. What temperature does the CPU reach?

This shouldn't be the problem as I have an 850w power supply that is working correctly.

I haven't checked the temps but I am checking them right now.

Once it hits 100% usage the temp steadily climbs to 90 degrees and the cuts off. It takes about a minute or less for the temp to climb to 90 so I am starting to think I may need a better cpu cooler because I am just using the stock one right now.

90C is wayyyy too hot, thats the motherboard kicking in the overheating protection to avoid damaging the CPU. You really want those temps under 70C. Make sure that the cooler is mounted right and that the fan does spin up when you put it under load, it shouldn't be getting up to those temperatures even on the stock cooler.

Your HSF isn't seated correctly. Reseat it and you should be fine.
