Alright, out of all of the things in my build, this must be the most frustrating to decide :(
Basically my original choice was the gigabyte 280x but then I found out that some people had problems which put me off it and decided to get a msi gtx 760 but I can't help but feel that I might regret not getting a 280x.
So I have narrowed it down to 4 cards!

Sapphire Vapor-X R9 280X-£239

Gigabyte R9 280X-£225

MSI R9 280X-£240

or spend less and get a msi gtx 760-£190

If you have any of these cards I wouldn't mind hearing how they perform, temperature and stability wise(freezing/crashing)

If you're on a budget, then you could settle for the GTX-760 it's an awesome card. It also depends what games and what resolution you'll be using. On a single monitor at 1080p, the GTX-760 can run any games at max settings so as whitecat said it's more than enough for most people.

I don't have any of these cards, but I'm sure they're all good. I mean by that Sapphire, Gigabyte, MSI all have good reputations. Don't try to over-analyze this, if one card was really superior then the other ones wouldn't sell.

Since you seem to want the 280x more than the 760 and you also seem to have doubts with Gigabyte, why don't you get the Sapphire or the MSI? As sweenytodd suggested, you could also consider Asus they have very good heatsink on their cards.

I plan on 1080p and just the standard games like bf4 and dayz but im definitely pumped for dark souls 2, I could get the gtx 760 and save the difference and upgrade in a year or two.

For Bf4 , GTX 660 is recommended . GTX 760 is far faster .
