I got a free EVGA X58 FTW3 motherboard which supports 24 gigs of ram with six slots. I think it's slightly used (could be unused) but still in great condition. I got 24 gigs of free ram as well (mushkin silverline that came in sets of 12 gigs (3x4). I read the manual and could easily use all 24 with the motherboard. But I also want the ASRock Z87 Extreme4, which supports 32 gigs of ram, but only four slots. Which motherboard should I use? If the ASRock, then can I use my ram in a 4x4 configuration?

Solution
I'd go the 1150, the X58 is fairly old already, might put the mobo up for sale and use the proceeds toward athe new build, plenty of folks looking for X58 mobos

I do not have a CPU yet, but I was thinking of the i7-4760k, with the ASRock. But I'm unsure about if that will work with the EVGA. Will it? What other CPUs will work with it that are similar to the 4760k?

the cheapest 1366 processor i found - Intel Xeon E5606 -$227 is 2x slower than i5 4670 -the same price .You d better get the Haswell i5 4670 and H87 or Z87 motherboard.

New question: How much would the X58 be worth?
