Can I replace i7-3770 with Celeron G1620?

Hello,

I have a Lenovo K430 desktop which came with a 3rd generation Intel® Core™ i7-3770.
I removed that CPU, and installed a Celeron G1620. Now, the computer will not turn on.

I ASSumed that I could install any LGA-1155 CPU. Should I have used an i3/i5? Is it a (cpu) generational thing? BIOS incompatibility?

Yes that should work without any issues. They're both Ivy Bridge cpus.

Why did you take out the i7 for a g1620?

No that processor is not supported. These are (i7)3770K,3770,(i5),3570k,3550,3450,(i3),3220,3240,3330,3220 & G640. I've seen where some Graphics Cards are not supported as well. Couldn't get any tv tuner card to work with the Lenovo motherboard, so I stripped out all the good stuff and built a new computer. Now I'd like to get the Lenovo up and running on the cheap.
