Have you tired Safe Mode ( Press F8 during start up ). Then use system restore to go back to when your system worked fine.
Have you tried using the Windows DVD Repair option? Is there a chance your HD has failed? Did you make your recovery DVD or USB?
If none of these is an option, you can go to Kaspersky's site and download a Linux recovery system. It had a Linux OS which runs from the disk and gives you access to your windows files. There is even a very useful browser. If you use this disk (which is intended as a temporary OS to run a virus scan) and everything else works then you can be pretty sure that the problem is your primary boot HD. ( It's free! )

i couldnt care less about the HDD.

the motherboard is brand new came yesterday and so is the PSU and case and H80 cooler.

the BIOS should load regardless of HDD in sata port or not but when i press DEL or any of the other keys to access the BIOS, i get black screened. My computer components keep running though, the fans/cpufan/hdd spin etcccc

Try to hold the power key for 10 seconds. And then turn on. (I know, that you probably already solved
this problem) But maybe smb is looking for a same problem.

hi, i actually spent a good 2-3 days trying everything possible, it drove me absolutely insane!
until i read somewhere after hours and hours of research that there could be a graphics problem with the monitor, so i used my television downstairs. once the hdmi was connected, the BIOS screen FINALLY popped up, i was so relieved.

so what it actually was, the television/monitor i use as the main display for the computer for some reason will never load the bios? everytime i need to access it, which is rarely, i have to literally move the tower downstairs and configure it there.

edit: it does load the bios, but its just black screen because the resolutions do not match (i think). hence why i have to use my tv downstairs or my old monitor, the VGA socket ones.

Did you re-install Windows when you swapped the motherboard? If not, re-install Windows. You can't just swap motherboards and have Windows boot properly.

If you can't even get into the BIOS, you may have issues with the motherboard or maybe RAM. Re-install the components from scratch, reseat the RAM and also do a BIOS reset to defaults (should be jumper switch on the system). If you still can't get into the BIOS, contact the motherboard vendor for support.
