So I'm looking to get a new monitor that's 27" and IPS preferably. Right now I have a TN monitor but would like to venture into the IPS world of gaming. Currently my gpu is a SAPPHIRE Vapor-X Radeon HD 7950 3GB 384-Bit. Games I play are MMO's competitively, will be playing new ones that come out so would like to be able to play them on at least high settings. I play FPS sometimes but I can always use my TN for that if needed. I do play DayZ a lot though.

I've been searching sites like http://www.ipsledmonitors.com and I notice all the 1440p monitors need DVI-D and see mine only has DL-DVI-I. Does this mean I'm either stuck getting a new gpu or just not being able to run 1440p? What would be my best bet IPS wise if my budget is $400 for gaming?

Thanks for the help

I've been running my 7950 and a achieva shimian 27" 1440p for all my gaming for over a year now. bf4 or crysis 3 are really no problem. those are pretty heavy games and although i can't max them out i just turn down a few settings and it still looks nice. if its not one of those games I'm sure you will have no problem getting near max settings on most other games.

s-ips/ah-ips is a little sharper than pls, but only a little. samsung makes the pls while lg makes the s/ah ips ones.

i have a single dead pixel on my monitor in the lower right half of the screen and its terribly hard to see unless you have a static white image. just get a pixel perfect model. there still may be some white back bleeding though but its rarely a big deal.

That is a lot more than I can spend unfortunately. I only have roughly $400.

Any input possibly on if my gpu is good enough to run 1440p on MMO's and games like DayZ? Do I need to find a monitor that supports my DVI links? I'm so lost so any info would be great.

you can get a pixel perfect version too for $430
the 27' versions are popular too and can cost up to $100 less.

ive had a 27" version of this monitor for a year now and love it. any more money spent is wasteful. gsync monitors will be coming out soon and spending over $500 now on anything not gsync is wasteful and not a smart move. asus already had a 27" gsync 1440p monitor at the recent CES and its supposed to retail in the $650 range.

other than that the $329 1440p montiors are the way to go, they are the exact same panels that are in the dell ultrasharp and apple cinema displays.

if you wish to purchase from a united states dealer....

I got a X-star DP2710 Back in december when it was on sale for 279.99$ USD. It was a amazing deal and I ended up getting one with no dead pixels at all(Perfect). And it can overclock to 120hz easily with there cables only though. Not sure if the 120hz overclock actually works but im loving this monitor for its price. This was on EBAY too btw.

Wow guys these are some really nice monitors! How come I see a lot of these companies saying 5 dead pixels is common? Is that something I need to look for? I forgot to mention that 3d isn't something I plan on ever using. I also need at least 1 HDMI input for my console.

That 30" one looks really good but can my gpu handle that resolution on the games I play on high settings atleast? How do I ensure I have no dead pixels? Do they have that option in the 27" one? Can't seem to find it on Ebay. What's the difference between PLS and IPS? Sorry for being such a bother :(

Here's a bunch of Yamakashi monitors on Amazon which I'd prob use to buy the monitor.
Amazon search

Really appreciate the replies guys

I don't know the difference is from PLS and IPS, but PLS looks pretty damn good. The link gave was a panel based on samsung panels. These are perfect monitors, they were just rejected by samsung or any big company cause its not up to standard there standards. The DP2710 is 27'' They say that just to cover there asses from dead pixel returns but if you have more than 1 dead pixel and complain to ebay, they'll refund and pay for your shipping return I think. Guess you just gotta gamble your luck when it comes to the korean monitors. I got 0 dead pixels on mine and loving the picture quality it brings. $279.99 was a steal for this ;).
