Computer Freezes Randomly

I'm getting random freezes.

I hope that's enough info from my dxdiag. The freezes happen three or four times a day. They usually occur when I'm playing Skyrim or another game. They occasionally occur when the system is idle. I have run chkdsk,, defraged the hd, updated my bios, installed all updates from windows (except explorer), installed all driver updates, and monitored cpu and gpu temps with speedfan. I'm using an HDD, not an SSD. My copy of Windows 7 is from pirate bay, and I'm using DAZ loader. This problem occurred with the factory install of windows as well. I did not get a disk from the manufacturer. There are no loose screws or anything I know of that could cause a short. The computer is still quite functional. I'm just really starting to obsess over this, and I don't know what to do anymore. If anybody has any tips, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

I was wrong. I kept getting frezes after that. I updated my intel inf files, and I think that did the trick. It's been 3 days since the last freeze. Thanks for all your help.

Do these following, if they can help:
Clearing DNS Cache:
1. Type Command Prompt in Start Search, right-click on Command Prompt under Programs and select Run As Administrator.
2. Now, type ipconfig /flushdns and hit Enter.(it will show a message that Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache)

Clearing Memory Cache:
1. First right-click anywhere on the desktop and select New > Shortcut.
2. Now enter the following line when asked for location of the shortcut and hit Next:
%windir%\system32\rundll32.exe advapi32.dll,ProcessIdleTasks
3. Give it any name and hit Finish.
4. Now open this newly created shortcut and you will notice a slightly better performance.

Clearing Thumbnails Cache:
1. Right-click your primary disk partition (where Windows is installed) and open Properties dialog.
2. Now, click Disk Cleanup to open Disk Cleanup dialog.
3. Select the items you want to remove, along with Thumbnails to remove the thumbnail cache.
4. Click OK followed by Delete files to delete selected items and remove thumbnail cache.

Additionally, clear all browsers' cache too that are installed in your pc. For more information on clearing browsers' cache refer this link:

It just froze again. I had to hard reset it. When it booted, it showed the windows files loading screen as if I was installing the os. It gave me the option of doing a startup repair or starting normally. My keyboard was not responding at this point. It went into startup repair, and asked me if I wanted to load an earlier configuration. I selected no, and let the startup repair continue to run. It couldn't repair any problems. Any other ideas?

I'm on my phone now, running this memtest. How long should I let this run? Do I need to do anything with the configuration? It's showing my cpu temp at 62 and one core active. Is that normal? Thanks for all your help so far.

Run a virus scan and make sure you have updated version of antivirus you are using. Set the sensitivity to highest and run the scan for whole your pc.
secondly, go to control panel and uninstall all those programs, you no longer need and those which you find suspicious.
Thirdly, defragment your hard disk by clicking on Click START>PROGRAMS>ACCESSORIES>SYSTEM TOOLS>DISK DEFRAGMENTER.
Fourthly, Open up your computer case and dust it out carefully if it has collected dust particles over time being.
If all that doesn't help;
Format your disk and reinstall your operating system.
If still doesn't work? Downgrade to a lower operating system to Linux or Windows xp.

I've already defraged and scanned for viruses. I cleaned the dust out of my pc when I applied new thermal glue. The last suggestion is the only one I can see as viable. I did this about a month ago though. I wish I could get a disk copy from the manufacturer, so I would have a genuine version. Lol. I did get a couple errors unrepairable files when I ran sfcscannow, although I'm not really sure that's the problem. My computer started doing this about 6 month after I got it. (With genuine windows 7 home premium). Maybe I should try a legitamately free OS? I play most of my games through steam. Would there be a free OS I could run those on?

some torrents on web include corrupted system file files and even that can lead to such problems. And maybe thats what you got after downloading. Moving on to SteamOS, it is designed primarily for playing video games. I think its still beta version available on net. Good luck :)

I've been looking for more hardware tests. I'm going to try testing my motherboard/cpu. If I get nothing, I'll probably change to a free OS...unless anyone has another suggestion.

Or maybe it can be your gpu or cpu limiting your performance in gaming.
Anyway, update here after installing your new OS.

It ended up being the hard drive. It was going bad, but hadn't failed yet. I didn't need another OS. I bought a new case with the hard drive, swapped everything, and installed the OS with daz loader. I haven't gotten any errors on running sfc /scannow in command prompt either. My computer has been able to run for hours without freezing as well.
