So, I've been finding parts for a new gaming PC and I'm thinking about using a AMD FX-8320 for my CPU and a ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z as my motherboard. Are these a good combo and what is a good graphics card for under $150. Thanks for any suggestions you can get me! :D  :D  :D

If you are planning on gaming, I wouldn't spent only $150 on a GPU. Get an FX-6350 and then spent another $50 more on a r9 270. That would be a better use of money for a gaming PC. MB looks good to me

Looking again, it seems like you are spending a LOT of money on a motherboard. I would reccomend this setup for optimal gaming with a budget of $545 for a CPU, GPU, and MB.

FX-8350 (CPU): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

R9-270X (GPU): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

ASUS AM3+ MB: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Total: $540. I would spend it this way instead of spending $545 on those 3 items

Looks good, one question though how does GPU help you? is it required in a gaming computer? (Reading off an online step by step guide, doesn't mention the GPU)

A graphics card, whether that be an integrated graphics card or a dedicated graphics card is required in all computer, whether they be gaming or not. What a graphics card or GPU does is it renders graphics onto the screen for you to view them. In games, however, the graphics are really complex and happening super fast so a more expensive and powerful graphics card will handle the more complex details a lot better. Hope this answers your question :)

Thanks! :)  One final thing, the mother board you recommended seems to be DOA in most cases. You sure this is a good motherboard? Sorry for asking so many questions :)

Don't apologize for asking questions! This is what the forum is for :)

It has a 4/5 star rating and 262 reviews, plus ASUS is a good company. Sometimes newegg shows some weird reviews first but I doubt it would get a 4/5 star rating if it was DOA most of the time
