Hey,
I've just build a new pc but it wont start up. When it trys to load windows7 it freezes and restarts.
I think it has something to do with the RAM not configured right.
Specs:
RAM: 4gb DDr3 1600, CL 11-11-11-28 1.5V, im running 2 of these.
Motherboard: MSI b85-G41 pc mate. This motherboard should be able to run DDR3 RAMs
Best regards,
mjjs

Solution

its very hit and miss, it doesnt always work, ive even had it myself when changing hdd's between similar HP systems and it bluescreens and reboots before windows even has a chance to start loading.

im only suggesting it to try and eliminate it.

did you make any changes before the system stopped working or did it just stop booting?

if you have clocked your system it may be worth returning the system to stock settings and check to see if it boots.

failing that, it could be an issue with your windows install, try another bootable OS (linux for example) to see if that works.

Thanks for your reply,
The first time i booted up the pc it froze at the "loading windows". This is what it has been doing all the time, i havent gotten past this point.
I installed windows through another computer since mine does not have a floppy drive (the motherboard doesnt support it) and the only version i've of windows is on a CD. I've tried changing the overclocking in the BIOS menu but honestly- i've no clue of what im doing. The only positive respond i got from changing the MHZ frequency from auto to 800 is that my windows loads a bit more before freezing and restarting.

open the bios and choose the option to load optimal settings, this will restore everything to what it should be

if you install windows on another machine it might not boot on this one. it is possible to put windows install files on a usb stick if you have one handy, if you cant boot off a cd in your system, usb may be the easiest way to go.

if you havent got a big enough drive to put windows 7/8 on, you could always acquire windows xp, put that on a small usb stick just to see if it will install.

I'll try to put win7 on my 8gb usb and then run it. But shouldnt it work if i installed win7 on a harddrive and then placed the harddrive in another computer?
