" CPU has been changed. Pl re-enter CPU settings in CMOS set up & remember to save before quit"
" Press F1 to continue or DEL to enter Set Up"

The CPU was never changed. When I press F1 the computer boots up normally. What went wrong for me to get this message?

MB : ASUS P5N-SLI S CPI
BIOS : Rev 1406
CPU : Intel Duo. 2.66 GHz
RAM : 4 GB

Thanks for your help

Solution
Just unplug the power cord, remove the CMOS battery, wait for a minute then put it back. Some motherboards use jumpers for clearing the CMOS, so removing the battery would not be necessary. Check the board's manual what options are available.

How do you clear the CMOS.
Is it the same as restoring the BIOS to its default state?
I read up on how that can be done. I really would like to avoid doing that since about three years ago I upgraded the BIOS to its present revision state (Rev 1406). Over these years I've not had any messages at all except this recent message out of the blue.
But if by clearing the CMOS its something different from restoring to the BIOS default, then please educate me on it and how I can go about doing it
Thanks
