Okay so I'm trying to get to the bottom of my random blue screen that happens once a day almost. Could it possibly be because I have a single Dual channel memory only running?Should Dual Channel memory be running in pairs?

I have 1 stick of Viper 8gb DDR3 dual Channel 1600mhz

help would be appreciated :)

Solution
to run dual channel you indeed have to run them in pairs.what error code do you get when you bluescreen? you might also consider running memtest to check that stick of ram.

You can run a single stick/module of dual channel RAM, it just won't allow the motherboard/CPU to use it to its full potential. Did you verify that that particular memory was compatible with your motherboard? Have you stress tested the memory stick/module with MemTest, Prime95 or OCCT (or anything similar)?

Yeah it should be compatible, I haven't run a stress test yet but I'm planning too. My motherboard is Asus B85 Plus I just put together my PC 4 days ago.

I'll check it once it pops up again. I'll likely run a memtest seems like the most plausible action. Accidently picked your reply as solution. Hopefully it is the solution.
