Just sold xbox to build gaming pc

Bought an xbox one on release and it failed to impress me so put it on ebay to start a new pc build.. I got £450 for it and could put a few hundred to it if need be.. I am just looking some advice and recommendations...

Heres what im planning to use:

i5 4670K or i7 4770k
MSI's Z87-GD65 Gaming or asus z87 pro
GeForce GTX 760
8 or 16Gb ddr3 1600
Seagate Barracuda 2TB Hard Drive 7200rpm,...

Im not sure if i should get an ssd or a hdd, or both?

I read their isnt any real benefit in getting an i7 for gaming ?

Im a casual gamer/ dad and husband so gaming is not a big part of my life, although i do enjoy it when i get the chance. The main games i`ll be playing will be battlefield & assassins creed for now.. Would this be a good spec machine? would it run most games at high settings? or can anyone recommend better for my budget ?

there is almost no benefit for an i7 in gaming, those are meant for 3d modeling and such programs.

i personally dont really find the use of an SSD, but it does help to increase the overall speed of your computer.(boot times ect..)


yes this is a good spec machine and should run games MUCH better than your xbox one did.

Im not sure about the ssd either tbh, sure it`ll boot faster but a 2TB hdd for £60 or 500Gb ssd for around £300 the hdd makes moe sense to me..

What about the mobo, would you go for the Asus or the MSI.. Ive been told asus make the best boards but im reading a lot of good reviews of the MSI,. Just dont know about them.

and what what about the ram, was thinking corsair or gskill.. but would a cheap memory do the same job ?

Just a bit of an update.. have most of the stuff bought.. went for

i5 4570k
2TB WD Black caviar
Corsair 600W semi modular psu
MSI's Z87-GD65 Gaming
Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB (2x8GB)
Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 case

.... I`m just stuck on the gpu.. I seen that many different ones which I think are good but dont know which one I should get...

It`s between gtx 760, 770, radeon r9 280x ....or I`ve came across an r9 280x at a good price but the brand is VTX.. which i have never heard of tbh.. ? any advice on teh card would be appreciated
