I am looking for a solution to display problems I am having with my Gforce 7900GT graphics card and 2 monitor upgrades. The only monitor that works ok is a Princeton 17". On 2 other monitors, they display a full screen of diagonal lines when windows boots up and also when loading most applications. This lasts for about 30 seconds after which the appropriate display appears. These 2 monitors are a NEC 19" 1940CX and a Dell 24" S2440L.

Note that these 2 monitors work fine on my other PC with the same OS, a Gforce 7600 AGP card, 3.4 Pentium 4, Asus P4P800SE MB, RAM 3072.

Having Googled this problem, the vast majority of those that have had this problem, also note that their card is also a Gforce 7900GT. So, basically I am looking for a solution, or a graphics card and monitor that will work together (The Dell Monitor above would be great).

The system specs for the PC with the problem:
Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit
CPU: 2.40 AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core
MB: Gigabyte S Series GA-M57SLI-S4
RAM: 3072
Display Slots: PCIE_16_1 and PCIE_16_2 (Allows 2 cards for SLI function, but only want to use 1

Solution
For what you've found on the web it seems to be a specific issue with the 7900GT with monitors above 17"... if Nvidia ever found out about the issue it's possible that a driver update or GPU BIOS update will fix the issue, otherwise any new graphic card should work without issues with any of your monitors.

RaDiKal,
Thanks, having searched the web myself, I think you nailed it. I have added a number of tickets with Nvidia, however they don't seem to want to respond to this.
