My first build and have been reading some posts in this forum about other builds and below is what I have come up with as a starting point.

I've been a laptop guy for the past 8 years or so and would like to get into some gaming. This will be my everyday computer as well, so your help is much appreciated.

Wasn't sure if that would be enough PSU or not and there were a lot of choices with that and with memory, so not sure about that either.

Have never overclocked but will be giving it a go with this build and was wondering if that MB was a good pick?

The video card seemed to be a pretty popular choice to go along with the 4670K.

I would like to put around 1400-1500 into the tower.

I don't have a monitor either so I would like some suggestions for that as well. No bigger than 24" and would probably just be sticking with 1080p, unless it would make a huge difference in getting a better resolution.

Thanks

Great build and good choice of components. But:

- You don't need 16 GB of RAM for a gaming purpose, unless you do more intensive tasks like rendering or video/photo editing. 8 GB would be plenty to run all your games.

- Since you got about 80$ left on your budget, I suggest you pick a better heatsink if you are going to overclock in the future. The Noctua NH-D14 and the Phanteks PH-TC14PE are my personal favorites.

If you have questions, feel free to ask them. Have fun building !

-No need for such an expensive board. The Asus Z87-A has everything you need.
-8gb of ram is plenty.
-No need for the fastest HDD. The Barracuda is a bit slower than the WD Black, but it's about half the price.
-Cheaper version of the 770, same performance.
-Cheaper psu. The Seasonic one is definitely higher quality, but the CX600M should be fine.
-Included a good IPS 1080p monitor and it's still cheaper than your original build.

Thanks Oleonius , I will check out those heatsinks. I was also looking at the Corsair H100i at one point which is just a tad bit more.

I was going back and forth with the memory as far as 8/16 and I don't really plan on doing many intensive tasks outside of normal gaming/internet stuff. So I may have to change that.

Thank you.

Appreciate the monitor help and will check that out. I like the price.
It was tough picking out the 770, for me being a n00b and all. Wasn't sure if one company made one better than the other and what not.

Even tougher was the PSU since so many different companies make them but I like your choice. Appreciate the help!

The Noctua and Phanteks cooler performs the same as the H100 but are far more quiet. They are also cheaper and you don't risk any liquid leaking into your computer if they break.
