is there a light on the motherboard and if so does it light up to show that there is power coming to the motherboard. also make sure that the right cables are plugged into the motherboard and other components of the computer

Make sure the standoff between the case and motherboard are there and there aren't extras causing a short. Make sure the power/reset/led/hdd pins are all in the right spot with the right +/-. Make sure the RAM is in there all the way (need to hear them snap!). Other than that, is the psu turned on and set to 120V? I think these are all in the checklist though so I'm assuming you've tried them :(
