I have a 3G dongle and I want to connect it to a wi-fi router jus like how we connect broadband connections and use it? Will it work? I have seen many wi-fi modems comes with USB ports, so could you please advise me will it work if I connect my Dongle as internet connection to the router and use internet over Wi-fi network in laptops and smartphones?:??:

If it works the way -please suggest me the wi-fi router which would work best for such connections.

I think Phillip misunderstood the question.
You can get (and have been able to for quite a while) a router that supports 3G/4G dongles to share your internet connection.

(I posted this for anyone who may be searching for a similar answer in the future.)

Its rather not a solution but a question that how to connect a dongle to a simple WiFi router, we can do this with the help of a laptop but i want to make a always on type of connection but it seems that i need to buy some other hardware.

If above question can't be answered or there isn't any solution then probably buy "Lava W520 3G WiFi Router" type of product in your country.

Thanks,
Harpreet.

Hi,

Wifi Router comes with USB connection to provide internet connectivity to your computer through USB port. This may be DSL modem with wired internet input.

3G dongle with USB port need to be connected to laptop directly to get internet connectivity through USB port. Here USB port also powers the dongle and get internet signal from the dongle. But dongle can provide internet connectivity to only one computer and no wifi available.

Now you can connect this dongle to a Wifi router which has USB input to insert dongle and probably another micro-USB input for charging purpose. This may give out the signal either as Wifi (wireless) or through ethernet port for wired connectivity to your computer. Here you need to buy extra hardware - Wifi router for USB dongle

Alternately you may buy Wifi dongle, which also have USB connectivity. They may either be directly connected to laptop like any other dongle, or alternately they may be connected to any powerbank or charger to get power through USB. Since such Wifi dongle may not have power source, power required to be fed externally through charger or powerbank. USB charger or power bank will be extra hardware. Otherwise you must be having a device like laptop which can power your Wifi dongle

Asus routers support 3G modems on the USB ports. Google your exact 3G device with Asus for support. Routers are very selective in the USB devices they support. Don't assume compatibility, find documented compatibility.

I agree. This is by far the best solution. I am still in trial mode with connectify but I am extremely pleased sp far. I have connected two other devices and the performance is fantastic.
