Hello,
Why is it important to place items on the motherboard before you install the motherboard in the system unit?
Should the motherboard be installed before or after the drive units? Why?

Solution
when building depending on the size of your case and it set up. you should install power supply first so it wont fall on to the mb if your hand slips. then put the mb standoffs in and then the mb with the cpu..ram and heat sink already on the mb.
then plug in the power supply to the mb and then the case header cables. then you want to power on the pc for the first time and check in the bios your cpu temps. (make sure the cpu cooler on right. if the temp is fine for the cpu (35-40c) after 10 min or so people turn there pc off with the power supply switch. then unplug the power supply from the wall. then they connect the sata cables and the hard drives. you want to do this last due to how thin the sata plugs are. there easy to snap off...

Well if you could try put the motherboard in and then try to install the CPU, RAM, GPU and so forth.

Notice how much difficulty you have? That's why you put some things on first. It's also easier inserting the

motherboard if you've got a big CPU cooler to hold onto for instance; which means you don't have to touch the

sometimes sensitive electronics on the motherboard itself.
