Dual 27"1080p Displays vs 1 1440p 27"

hi all, Since I just bought my new Gigabyte Windforce R9 290X 4GB, I wanted to ask a question as described in the title. I want to multitask a lot and think going dual 1080p displays is the way to go, these are quite expensive 1080p Monitors (Samsung S27C750P Series 7) but I can only afford to go one 1440p monitor as I spent $3000 on this desktop of mine. Is going dual 1080p monitors the best option? (not going to be upgrading for a long time) I don't want to go ultra-wide 29" either or 4k (too expensive over here).

Looking at your build I assume you want gaming as part of the priority or editing work. My recommendation is to get 2 different 1080p monitors. This comes from my experience. I like to edit photos and watch movies on one monitor and game on the other. That's why I'd suggest getting a high quality IPS monitor and a fast 2ms gaming one.

Also, did you look into getting Korean monitors? You can find 27" 1440p for $400.

I a in Australia and each 1440p monitor at it's cheapest is $597 at a store called MSY. I do want the monitors to look similar as having two different ones does look a little weird. How about two 2ms 27" 1080p monitors? I am doing some gaming but for the most part 3D work which requires me to do two things or more simultaneously. The IPS monitors over here are quite a lot as well, So going that route would be better but I just spent $3000 on just the desktop and I simply don't have the amount to spend too much on the monitors. Would these PC specs run smoothly on games as well:

Intel i7 4930k
Cooler Master HAF X 942 Full Tower
Gigabyte R9 290X Windforce 3x OC 4GB
G-Skill Trident-X 16GB 1600MHz 2x8GB
Gigabyte X79 UP4 LGA 2011
Noctua NH-D14 SE2011 LGA 2011 Extreme Performance Air cooler
Samsung 256GB 840 PRO Series SSD
LG Blu-Ray Drive
Antec HCG-900 900 Watt PSU

And I already have a Samsung S27B550 27" 2ms 1080p Monitor, That's with my old rig with the 7990 which I am getting rid of because when games don't support crossfire I am only using an underpowered 7970, so I went for AMD's best GPU to handle these monitors. Should I use that monitor and buy just one Samsung S27C750P 27" 1080p just to save money?

Tough call. I have mismatched monitors and it doesn't bother or look bad to me. They are both 24" monitors and both have different advantages and disadvantages...one to game on and one to watch/edit things.

Does Samsung have any nice IPS 27" monitors at a reasonable price? I didn't see any..at a reasonable price. My vote is to get a different brand cuz it's not like you will be gaming on 3 monitors...will you?

Where i live, No. There are no Samsung IPS displays and if there were, I would get one. There are LG (I don't like them as there screens look terrible) and Asus but have a silver tone and circular stand which I don't really like and are much more. My S27B550 is a oval stand which I might mount to the wall or something.

I was thinking of these;

Which one? Only problem with the S27C750P is that i think it's a little too tall for the desk and won't fit and that I might have to look up to actually see the top of the screen, The S27B550 is a series 5 and so is the S27C570H, that might be the best match and I know that they will fit. They both look pretty similar with crystal frame but the S27B550 is 2ms which will probably be my gaming monitor.

I don't know about AOC, It is in the store but I have never really trusted it or anything, I am the kind of Samsung person. I'm not too sure If I will be wall mounting. Can I game at 3840x1080 and it'll look good?

No it won't look good. If you want to game on more than one monitor then you need to choose ones that have a small bezel on edges and you need 3. Because your aim is in the middle...if you had 2 monitors then your scope would be stuck between the 2 monitors...unplayable.

As for good monitors...I trust reviews and base decisions that way. That's how I chose a Dell Ultrasharp and Asus gaming monitor. Check out this site: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/

When you play a racing game do you usually look straight ahead at times? I mean ...the center view can't be stuck between 2 monitors. Maybe sell the Samsung and buy 3 x 24/27" 2ms monitors then. Do racing games need the really fast monitors. Maybe 3 x 5ms IPS is better. I don't play racing games so I'm not sure what monitor is best for them.

I'm into it but not as much as racing sims. i like BF4/3, and Black ops/2 stiff like that.
