I recently aquired a windows 7 laptop with a fried hdd. I slapped my old laptop's windows xp hdd that crashed into it. I could not reformat the old hdd in the old laptop being as the screen was shattered. Everytime I throw my windows 7 cd in it will not let me repair or install windows. I tried to run the system in safe mode with command prompt to force format the hdd but it just restarts itself. Any ideas or would just buying a fresh hdd be the best way?
