Best Graphics card for around £300 - £450?

Hello everyone.
I am having some really big trouble deciding what graphics card to upgrade to. Please list some recommendations below, I would like third party cards as well as just the model. I hope this is a healthy enough budget for someone to give me some good recommendations.

The only trouble I've heard about the 290's and the 290x's is that their stock cooler is awful and alot of them are burning out, and that they are poor build quality, however this card does have a nice but expensive cooler (all those pipes and aluminium). And they seem to have boosted the card just enough so it can compete with its big brother. However it's 50W more than filippi's (and your second) suggestion which is in danger of going over my 550W limit. So it's a nice card an all but, I can't affoard a new card and power supply, so I'm going to go with the gigabyte 780.

You should be OK on the 550W side, if it's a good one. If it's not I wouldn't run anything on it. What model PSU?

Also, that cooler is way quieter than the stock one, and the card usually beats a 780.

I tested the wattage on PC part picker using my current parts with this card it's 590W so with 40W's over I don't want to risk it, but it is a brilliant card.

There are 700W 'modern' PSUs that can't do 250W.
