Hi Toms,

I have a dual PSU (600 + 520w) desktop board 4u server. One power supply (600w) powers the motherboard, graphics etc, while the other power supply powers the 16 port hdd backplane (takes 8 molex plugs, 2 per section of the backplane). They are linked together via the power on signal cable (green wire on the p24 connector).

The backplane is a 16 port backplane which goes to 4 mini-sas ports and has reverse mini-SAS to sata cables to raid cards and onboard sata ports.

The hard drives are not powering down!! :O (sleeping) and always remaining active despite the windows setting. Could someone please advise on resolving this. It is a little beyond me.

Thank you!

Thank you for your reply :)

8 port PCIe Supertrak Promise EX8150 (of which it hides sleeping state from me)
& 4 port Silicion E3114
& Onboard sata ports.

I can only see the status of the 4 port silicon card hard drives and the onboard sata port hard drives, No drives sleep, regardless of controller or onboard ports.

The only things i've changed since they were sleeping is upping 1 power supply to two & installing the sata backplane & reverse mini-sas to 4xsata cables instead of having each hard drive have it's individual sata cable.

I don't think it's the powersupply/s, because they're doing their job fine supplying the power to hdd's when the computer is on/awake and not when it's off/asleep.

Which leaves me with just the backplane/cables.,, there are jumpers to set on the backplane sections but without a datasheet i've left these alone...

this is the backplane ;
