Hi. After asking some questions on here and looking on line I have upgraded my gpu to a gtx780 from a HD 6770.

I finally got it to work and instilled the drivers, it done a restart but the screen would not find a signal.

I but my old card back in and it worked, turned pc off and put gtx780 back in and it worked. It found a update for gpu drivers so updated restarted and it will not display again. HELP.

My specs are:

i7-4820k @ 4.50 GHz
Gigabyte X79-UD3
32GB ram @ 2133 MHz
AMD Radeon HD 6770
XFX Pro 750 Watt

Thanks

Well just a couple of months ago, I upgraded from an XFX HD 7850 to my EVGA GTX 780, all you should do is sweep all the old drivers with a driver sweeper. Insert the new card and you should be good to go. It sounds like this problem is due to a conflict of drivers and it still recognizes the HD 6670 as the primary.

I'm sorry, this is a stupid question, but you don't have the 6770 still in your pc right? Like, having both the 780 and the 6770?

LOL. I took it out. I only ever had one in at a time. I just put the 6770 in and that worked. turned off pc, removed 6770 and put 780 back in and am on it now. Seems every time I restart PC I have to run 6770 once and then turn off again to get the 780 to work?

So, do what ProWilma said. Also, when starting the PC hover your hand over the back of the card to see if it gets hot. So we know it ain't dead.

I uninstalled all AMD/catalyst drivers. Should i try a fresh install of nvidia drivers? It's just a pain every time the PC has to restart as I have to put 6770 in once and turn it off in order for the 780 to work.

Download driver sweeper and make sure all AMD drivers have been completely removed and remove the Nvidia ones as well. After this do not place the 6770 back in, there should be no need for that, just make sure the GTX 780 is firmly in the slot, cables are tight and turn it back on. You should have a display and then just redownload the drivers.

It doesn't feel hot. It can be dead as I'm using it now? as a side note I did have my CPU OC and the GTX 700 series comes with a full UEFI BIOS. I have new lost my OC, I don't know if that helps.

I will try this now, but if I don't get a display then I'm going to have to insert the 6770 again in order to get a pic back.

Its a EVGA card. I have not flashed the BIOS or changed it as I don't know how to lol. I'm new to all this and I got my CPU and motherboard already OC and the company told me to never update BIOS as I will lose the OC settings. All I did was insert the GTC 780 and I lost my OC.

Guru3D says "Attention - Guru3D Driver Sweeper has been discontinued as such you will not find any download links here any longer." Is there another program that you would recommend? Thanks

LOL. I was on a old guru3d site. Then it took me to the new one. Sorry about that. I removed all AMD and then nvidia. Screen icons got really big so I know it removed it all. Turned off PC left the 780 in and turned power on, no signal. :( I leave it for a bit then turn PC off by the bottom. I only have to press the bottom once tho, not hold and it turns of right away. I'm now on laptop as I dont want to have to put the 6770 back in. Any more ideas? Thanks

Why the hell didn't I think of that (still new to all this) I looked through my motherboard book and found 1st and 3rd are PCIEX16. I had it in the first one (PCIEX16_1) I have it now in the 3rd (PCIEX16_2) It loaded and got to windows. installed the drivers and then restarted and then it worked again. The fan sounds like it is going at a high speed, is this ok? GPU Shark says its at 30 min and 36 max so its not hot. Does this mean there is a problem with my motherboard?

If the 3rd on is PCIEX16 bus, then it'll give you the same performance as the first one. But that is very strange how the first doesn't work. If you place the HD 6670 in and it works, then theres probably something wrong in the bios settings. I wouldn't go around playing with that. As long as it's not hindering you now, I wouldn't go chasing it.

Thank you so much for all your help. I don't want to test the 6770 back in the PC now that the 780 is working. I will just have to wait till one day if I ever SLI it then I will see if the 1st slot is having a problem. I will post back on here if I get any more problems. Thanks again. :)

Well that was sort lived. It's been working for a long time but I had to restart as I installed some software and it kept saying no sig and turned off at the touch of the button (no holding) I put it in the 1st PCI and it works fine now. Seems that ever time the PC turns off or restarts I have to change the PCI slot. This can't be right lol. Any thoughts? Thanks

I had a gigabyte board once and I had no issues with it. After all the motherboards and graphic cards I've had, I've never run into an issue like this. This seems to be a software based issue, something in the bios or something to do with drivers. If this continues and happen to find a pattern, then you might be able to detect something, but now this seems awful random.

Hi im no expert but had a similar prob getting windows 7 to boot after changing to the eva 780, i have the x79-ud5 board.
I had to first remove all existing graphics drivers ( gt 430).
Then update the bios. Before this i did move the 780 to a different slot and dont know still if any other slot works. Then the last thing was to change in the bios the ufei setting to legacy rom.
Everything works fine now.
Hope this helps. Sorry im not that technical.

Hi. I have changed to legacy still no change. I did remove all drivers twice now. Also my BIOS is F16 and the website says thats the newest. I know something has changed in the BIOS when I put this card in as SCAN overclocked my CPU and said dont touch the BIOS. As soon as I put this card in The BIOS changed cause my CPU has dropped from 4.5 back to 3.5. I didn't know GPU cards would change the BIOS like that. Still lost at what to do tho. Maybe I should just never turn my PC off lol.
