Tom's hardware did a detailed article on it, in which they built a system in it and tested it.
The jist I got from the article was that the case was a little rough around the edges, figuratively speaking. The fans it used were rather loud, the default fan setup resulted in serious thermal issues, changing around the fans was tedious work, and even then, they undervolted the i7 they were using to keep it under decent thermal conditions.
The whole Steam Machine race has gotten many case manufacturers thinking seriously about thinner form factors, and there are a ton of new, slim console-like cases on the way. I'd probably just skip this one. It could work nicely with some modifications, as in changing the fans, and possibly drilling some extra vents if you're serious about an overclock, but I doubt that's why you were looking for a barebones.
