My laptop won't start up...

Hello, i have one old lap top, it's really ancient, 512mb ram, but anyway, i have xp for it, and it worked good for some time, and now when i start it up i get a blue "Windows is starting up" screen, and it's like frozen there, also that thing on the cable for power is hot. What should i do?

Try startup repair or reinstall windows. Since the window loading screen comes up, its likely not a hardware issue. HDD may be causing the problem but that is a farsight. Try reinstalling your operating system.

I had to change the hdd 2 months ago because the windows wouldn't start up also, but it didn't even want to load windows, it was at the black screen with the little blinking line

Exactly, hardware problem here is a very slight possibility. go on with a fresh install of windows.
