So I've been very careful when it comes to scketch sites and such on the internet and in downloads. Unfortunately last night my keyboard stopped working and wouldn't come back on till I rest my computer. When it rest a blue screen appear very quickly and I couldn't see what was on the screen unfortunately. Windows booted back up and notified me that it recovered from a crash. I ran virus scans with malwarebytes and avast and got no threats on either. Now I'm paranoid because I using a very expensive machine and I really don't want virus on board. What can I do to protect myself? What can I do to insure no viruses remain? If I get torrents how can I safely download those or anything like that anonymously and safely? I'm running windows 7 ultimate. Please help me out so I can stop worrying. There is a ton of valuable data I can't lose or want to spend the time reinstalling from backups. Thank you!

Hi,there are way better antivirus programs than avast, I wouldn't recommend using it. Did you tried to reinstall your keyboard drivers? Try using different keyboard and look if it works. If you installed some programs recently try uninstall them and see if keyboard works.

You should be find as long as you are cautious with what torrents you download, and continue to run Malware and Anti Virus scans often. I also recommend scanning torrents once they are finished downloading just to be on the safe side.

Next time your computer has a BSOD, try to get the error codes if possible for more information on to whats causing your issue.

1.) Fortunately my keyboard started working again after the rest.
2.) If there is a better free virus program what would you recommend?
3.) I really wish I could have caught the error codes it was really only there for quite literally a second. :/
4.) Would you recommend a firewall? Or just stick with windows firewall?
