Where would you cut $130 off this build?

@op

if you would read through my posts above in greater detail you wil find your price savings there.

oh and i suggested a 300r instead of the 200r. the cougar one is also not really all that bad either for the low price.

AMD CPUs tend to run hotter than their Intel counterparts. I hesitate to suggest stepping down to an i3 CPU for gaming. You could lose the aftermarket cooler since the CPU and motherboard are both non-overclocking capable.

edit: Might want to check out a Cooler Master 912 or 922 case, might save some money there as well.

Yeah, use the i5-4570 with the stock cooler. Get 4 GB of RAM now and add another 4 GB later. The FX-6300 is a good CPU, but I'd stick with the i5-4570. Maybe wait a bit and save some more if you have to. Prices will go down in time too.

that saves $120 bringing your total budget down to $810
if you didnt want to overclock and a bios update is okay then you can save $134 and bring your budget down to $796

you can trim back on the case a bit more to a cougar solution for $30 which would save you an additional $20 or... $790 for the amd 990x build or $776 for the amd 970 build. that leaves you more money to push into getting a few extra fans or buying a good cpu cooler.

i'd get the 990x build myself.

if you wanted to keep the intel parts and that motherboard... the choice above could save you $98 which would bring your total down to $833

in response to the other suggestions.......

i would not use a stock heatsink in florida unless you have air conditioning in the house.

also buy all the ram now, prices may go up or it may be hard to match what you have in the future.

there is no need to step all the way down to a fx6300 as a fx8320 is within range.

see my above post for reasons

Thanks for the replies i think the consensus seems to be stick with the Intel and find cuts elsewhere.

I can probably wait another 4 weeks (maximum) so I might drop the cooler and go with the Intel stock and see what discounts/coupons come up. Any speculation on any industry upcoming price reductions CPU/GPU?.
